Hi Beautiful,

–> A new country forces every one of us to reassemble herself - the old you doesn't fit here yet, and the new one hasn't come into focus.

–> Career to rebuild, a world that won't sit still, a body that changed: the layers pile up, and it's foggy which to face first, or who you're becoming at all.

–> On Thursday, October 8, we're holding a small sharing circle to say it out loud together.

Details below.

A QUESTION IN OUR COMMUNITY

Where this came from

Someone asked the group whether anyone else had gone through an identity crisis after moving, specifically those who did not choose it for themselves. Who followed a husband. Who followed family. Who had no real say in it. And how do you build a new personality here.

The replies made it clear very quickly that the question was much bigger than the woman asking it.

THE FIRST LAYER

You earned it all once. Here you earn it again.

Your title does not travel. Your network is back down to a handful of people, most of whom you met this year. Your experience gets read by someone who has never heard of the companies on your resume and has no way to know what they meant.

And the part that rarely gets said out loud: this happens even when the move was entirely your own idea. Choosing it does not exempt you from rebuilding. It only means you have fewer people to be angry at.

THE LAYERS UNDER THAT

The ground keeps moving, and so do we

Politics feels less predictable every month. The job market stopped playing by the rules we learned, and the advice that worked three years ago now sounds quaint.

Our bodies are changing too. Some of us realize we want children and feel the clock. Others simply notice that their energy and their body are not what they were five years ago.

None of this arrives one item at a time. It stacks up in your head as layers of thoughts and worries, and it is genuinely hard to tell which layer you are supposed to deal with first. Most of us end up dealing with none of them and calling it a busy season.

WHAT HOLDS STILL

Your values change slower than everything else

When this much is moving around you, your values are usually the steadiest thing you own. They are a reasonable place to stand while you rebuild.

On Thursday we are sitting down together to put these layers on the table and say them out loud, which is the part that is almost impossible to do alone. After that we will look at how to work with them in a structured way: the approach behind The Red Thread, a set of exercises for naming your values and building your next chapter around them.

Small room, honest conversation, no performance required.

Thu, Oct 8 · 6:00 PM ET · (re)Build yourself again with Maria Gordienko. A sharing circle for everyone who is quietly putting herself back together after a move. See you inside.

Say one of these layers out loud this week, even if only to one of us.
